Didier Demé
Creator of illustration furniture from "Art Nouveau to the Lord of the Rings".
My creations are a reflection on the stage setting of literary, cinematographic or historical themes.
Sculptured furniture with plunging, counter-plunging and deforming views of the perspective, and more … a "writing" under the influence of comic strips and illustrations.
Born in 1970 near Paris, the son of mattress making craftsmen, at the age of fourteen I cut my first cabinet maker’s chip at the professional lycée of the Ecole Boulle.
In 1994, I created my ancient furniture restoration and copy workshop at Sainte Geneviève des Bois (25 km south of Paris).
In remembrance of my longings as a young boy for illustrations and sculpture on wood, I began my ²adventure² in 2004 with illustration furniture.
To explain my initiative, I published in 2006 :
"Regard, le carnet d'atelier" ("A Glance, the workshop notebook"), a rambling through La Fontaine’s fables and Perrault’s fairy tales to explain the evolution of 3 years of creation.
