Joël Philippin-Stefansen
Borne June 20th, 1956 in Dunkerque (Malo les Bains), France.
1973-1976: Apprentice at André Féton's workshop, master furniture restorer in Paris.
1976-1989: Employee and then head of furniture restoration workshop.
1989: Creation of the "Atelier Stefansen".
Since 1989, artisan and then master cabinetmaker, marquetry inlayer, varnisher and furniturerestorer in Paris and then east Paris.
1982: Silver medal in the "Meilleurs Ouvriers de France" competition.
1985: Graduate of the "Fondation de la Vocation".
1986: Gold medal in the "Meilleurs Ouvriers de France" competition.
1986-1991: Creation of a "masterpiece" in marquetry work.
1991: First prize and grant at the "Artisans of the 11th arrondissement in Paris" exhibition (Faubourg Saint-Antoine).
2005: "Maître Artisan en Métier d'art" (Master Craftsman in Artwork)
2007: "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (member of the French "Living Heritage Enterprises")
Since 1986, Joël Philippin-Stefansen has shown pieces in numerous exhibitions in Paris, France and abroad.
